Workers Aid All Sector Union (WAASU) was founded in July 2023 by committed uMkhonto Wesizwe (MK) Party ground soldiers and leaders. These founders recognised a critical need for a fearless union that refuses to compromise, especially in a labour environment where many existing unions have grown passive or captured.
The rise of the MK Party inspired the formation of WAASU, giving workers hope for a militant, uncompromising, worker-led organisation. The union is currently in discussions with the MK Party Labour and Civic Organisation (LACO) to align programmes, support structures, and workplace interventions.
When workers are protected, empowered, and treated with dignity, the entire economy benefits. Our mission is to ensure that every worker, regardless of sector or employment type, has access to fair representation, legal support, and collective bargaining power.
